Penny has forged an impressive writing career, both as a screenwriter and an author.

Penny is the author of the hit Scholastic middle grade book series Stage Stars: The Audition (2024) and Stage Stars: The Lead Role (2025), with her first book winning the prestigious 2025 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award. It is receiving rave reviews - like this one from Australia’s leading industry newsletter Books and Publishing. The series was quickly picked up by Scholastic Brazil.

As a screenwriter, Penny has also written several episodes of Home and Away, while her original Australian family drama, Family Affairs, was shortlisted for the Monte Miller Award - the Australian Writer's Guild's premier award for un-produced scripts.
