Penny has forged an impressive writing career, both as a screenwriter and an author.

Having secured a multi-book deal with Scholastic, Penny’s first novel in her middle-school fiction series Stage Stars Musical Theatre Club , hit book stores across Australia in September in 2024.

Stage Stars: The Audition was nominated for the prestigious Book of the Year by Speech Pathology Australia and is receiving rave reviews - like this one from Australia’s leading industry newsletter Books and Publishing. The series was quickly picked up by Scholastic Brazil.

The second book in the series, Stage Stars: The Lead Role, was published in early 2025.

As a screenwriter, Penny has also written several episodes of Home and Away, while her original Australian family drama, Family Affairs, was shortlisted for the Monte Miller Award - the Australian Writer's Guild's premier award for un-produced scripts.

Penny has written several television series which are in various stages of development.
